Quitting Marijuana…Why Is It So Bad For some People?

Regularly my quit smoking clients tell me they smoke marijuana and many of them want to quit that as well. Who knows why it is bad for some people but it just is.

So need to quit because it is a trigger for their cigarette smoking, but many report that they don’t like it anymore. The mellowness of the past has turned to laziness, or their lives are unraveling on some front.

Sure many people enjoy marijuana socially, and there are many reported health benefits from pain relief to reduced anxiety or even supporting cancer sufferers. This cannot be disputed, but if anything we do starts to have a negative impact then if are aware of it and you care for your well-being then stopping that behaviours is the be option.

If you smoke to ease anxiety but is sending you towards psychosis then stop.

If you smoke to be creative but you are not getting the work done then stop.

If you smoke to relax more socially but find yourself slumped in a chair at parties then find another way.

I have no judgement about smoking pot, if it works for you good, if it doesn’t then stop. Quitting marijuana is very similar to quitting cigarettes.

Hypnosis works very well, but just like cigarettes you must want to quit and be willing to participate in the process. It doesn’t work if you just sit back and expect the therapist to fix you.

In addition to hypnosis you may need support if you are in pain or experiencing anxiety.

Chronic pain responds well to hypnosis, because pain almost becomes a habit, over time more and more of your brain is given over to managing pain, but you can claw back your brain into normal function one bit at a time.

For social anxiety there are many NLP strategies which can help and your hypnosis therapist should be able to help you.

Creativity can be boosted by just doing it. Jerry Seinfeld the famous comedian has stated that his comic creativity came from just writing every day even if some of it was discarded. You will never create inspiring words or art if you just sit back and wait for the moment to come and set your neurons on fire.

So smoke and enjoy it, but if the time comes that smoking pot is diminishing your life then it’s time to step up and acknowledge it and then take fast action to free yourself from the negative effects and get on with your life.
